Item Description

A classic and very seldom seen specimen of the famous Autunites from the Daybreak Mine which date back to the 1950s-1960s. This piece is a wonderful display specimen featuring foliated groups of beautiful yellow-green orthorhombic blades, with crystals measuring up to 1.2 cm on minor matrix. This specimen is of the highest quality and is nearly pristine, with only a trivial bit of contacting on one end. This is the classic US mineral and locality for the species. Valued at $800. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#723). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
