Item Description

This specimen came with a label from Williams Minerals that states it's from the "New York Mine, Keweenaw County, Michgian", but I can't find a listing for this locality in any database. With that said, it's a very attractive Calcite from the UP featuring a pair of sharp, well-formed, gemmy, satiny, white scalenohedra measuring up to 2.3 cm aesthetically sitting on matrix. The underlying matrix shows orange-red hues, but I'm not 100% certain as to what mineral this is. It gives the illusion of native Copper, often seen included inside Calcite from this area, but I'm almost positive that it's not Copper. Good quality, though a small rough spot can be seen at the top of the main Calcite. Valued at $395 previously on the label.
