Item Description

The Huanggang Mine has given collectors a wide array of Fluorites in a brief period of time. Colors range from green to pink to purple and even colorless! The colorless "ice" crystals from this locality are similar to the finest from places like Dal'negorsk, Russia and Naica, Mexico. This piece features a few very sharp, GEMMY, very well-formed, striated, colorless crystals of Fluorite which are predominantly dodecahedral in habit, but show unusual triangular pseudo-octahedral striations. These are some of the most beautiful Fluorites I've seen from this locality in terms of morphology. The largest Fluorite measures 1.7 cm across and are sitting on bladed "roses" of pale pink Calcite. Minor attached black Ilvaite or Magnetite and soft greenish Hedenbergite (?) can be seen on the back of the piece, but the gorgeous Fluorite crystals are the focal point. BETTER IN PERSON and really attractive up close!! Great quality, aesthetics, and form make this a desirable and worthwhile miniature of this beautiful material from this contemporary locality. Valued at $700.
