Item Description

A fairly thick, GEMMY, soft greenish-blue colored, doubly-terminated, hexagonal group of Aquamarine with smooth, slightly etched crystal faces. The main crystal has a notably pyramidal termination, which is not commonly seen in Beryl from any world loaclity. There are some attached crystals of an unknown greenish-brown mineral on the back of the piece, which are growing on and partially included within the Aqua. The front of the piece looks to be undamaged, and while it does have a contact on the back, the fact that it's doubly-terminated and very well-crystallized make it a desirable example of this hard to find material. GEM quality Aquamarines from Brazil are hard to find, let alone a GROUP of crystals like this! No locality was given, though it could be from Teofilo Otoni as it looks similar to others I've seen from the area. Valued at $2,400. Specimen weight is 101.55 grams. From the collection of Rolando Gioia (a contributor to new definitive book on Brazilian minerals: "Minerais e Pedras Preciosas do Brasil").
