Item Description

A beautiful indicolite blue pyramidal termination rests atop the contrasting pleasing pastel-pink layered body of this eyecatching doubly terminated tourmaline from the famous Golconda pegmatite. The lightly frosted faces obscure the interior of this very glassy, well-striated gem cutie. The basal termination is water-clear. Complete all-around and pristine. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7726 and acquired in the mid-1970s, while Golconda mining was active. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Classic bi-colored gem tourmaline from the locale. 25.95 carats or over 5 grams mass. MUCH better in person!
