Item Description

Babingtonite and epidote are common accessories from the classic and famous quarries at Baveno, but to find BOTH species on sharp orthoclase crystals is RARE. Tabular black babingtonite crystals, to 6 mm, and sprays of green microcrystalline epidote needles are aesthetically perched on the crest and side of a very sculptural intergrown cluster of sharp, pretty pastel-pink orthoclase crystals with porcelaneous luster and texture. RARE and aesthetic combination material from the Kay Robertson Collection # 6227 and acquired in 1969. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A MUST for the locality or species collector!
