Quartz on Hedenbergite (Bruce Murphy Coll.)

Item Description

Sharply terminated quartz crystals with glassy terminations and frosted stepped-growth prism faces are aesthetically set on the mounded solid matrix of dense sprays of grayish-green elongated hedenbergite crystals. The large quartz is 2.8 cm and is doubly terminated. All of the quartz crystals in the cluster are pristine except for one broken crystal. The broken base shows the radial growth of the hedenbergites. Specimens of this combination quality are RARE from this well-known extinct Pb-Zn-Ag-Cu-Au-Fluorspar mine.
