Item Description

Dioptase on wulfenite is certainly one of THE RAREST most desirable combination species from the famous and now-closed Tsumeb Mine. One ususally sees wulfenite on dioptase. I do not think it occurs as a combo from anywhere else. Tiny, scintillating, absolutely gemmy and lustrous, rich emerald-green, dioptase crystals are richly peppered on the undulating matrix covered with sharp, lustrous, transparent to translucent, light brown wulfenite windowpanes to 8 mm. The wulfies have sharp beveled edges. Yellow-green duftite and other copper oxides add color and character. The display view is nearly pristine, with only a couple of gently bruised and broken wulfies. This is a RARE, colorful, dramatic and most excellent example of these combination species from the Kay Robertson Collection # 6242. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!!! Valued at $800-1000.
