Item Description

A RARE and excellent old-time combination from this less well-known and extinct German mining district. Tetrahedrite specimens are known from here, but barite is VERY RARE. The blocky barite vein is richly peppered with sharp, textbook metallic-gray crystals, to 7 mm, with a pretty light iridescence under bright light. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 4639 and obtained as a gift in 1966. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A rich and RARE old classic combination.
