Schorl, Muscovite & Quartz (Robertson Coll.)

Item Description

Classic and showy combination material from the well-known pegmatites on the north end of Lake Como. Schorl crystals and crystal sections are embedded in the pearlescent platy muscovite and massive quartz matrix. The doubly terminated schorl crystal is 9 mm. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 3676 and acquired in Munich in 1964. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Such older combinations are fairly uncommon from here.
