Item Description

Classic old-time and difficult to obtain combination material from the famous and ancient mines at Ste Marie-aux-Mines. A sharp, lustrous, metallic 9 mm tetrahedrite crystal prominently stands out on the clefted quartz crystal matrix. A 1.0 cm crystal cluster is hidden in the cleft and many tetrahedrite crystal sections are visible on one face of the sculptural specimen. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 4353 and acquired in the mid-1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Come with two old French labels, one from the well-known Paris dealer, Ernest Boubee and dates from the 1890s to the 1930s. Such older combinations are highly desirable from here.
