Item Description

Anglesite is EXTREMELY RARE from the famous Friedrichssegen Mine, closed in 1913. MINDAT lists the species, but there are no photos in the locality Gallery. A glassy, translucent, 1.4 cm on diagonal, anglesite crystal is nicely set in the SOLID two-generation cerussite matrix on this rich and showy lead ore miniature. Glassy, tiny, oxide-tinted cerussite blades and twins host scattered clusters of larger classic adamantine luster blades and twins. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 2379 and acquired from Scott Williams in the early 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Comes with an old German label. Very rare, perhaps UNIQUE old-time anglesite and cerussite from this renowned pyromorphite mine.
