Item Description

Galena is VERY RARE from the famous Bou Azzer District. MINDAT lists four mines for the species, but there are no photos in the locality Gallery. This impressive and super-rich large specimen is covered with two habits of bright metallic-gray galena. Most of the crystals on the rolling matrix are sharp cuboctahedrons. But, scattered conspicuous, sharp, larger spinel-twins are clearly evident. The striking spinel-twins reach about 1.8 cm. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 11215 and acquired at the Tucson Show in 1987. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Perhaps UNIQUE Bou Azzer galena.
