Item Description

RARE, old-time zoisite from this obscure Austrian locale. Sections of lustrous, translucent, olive-green to olive-brown zoisite prisms are scattered on all sides of the sculptural quartz matrix. The crystals reach 2.5 cm. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 12097 and acquired from the Hamel's at the Tucson Show in 1990. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). It comes with an Anton Berger label, a promiment Austrian dealer, and dates from about 1929 to the 1950s. Specimens of any type from this locale are RARE.
