Item Description

Mineral specimens in general, are uncommon and copper specimens are VERY RARE from the two old copper mines at Clifton, part of the famous Copper Mountain District (Clifton-Morenci District). This is a sculptural, probably old-time, RARE example of "bush" copper. 3-dimensional, tightly intergrown rounded clusters of tiny, sharp, tetrahexahedral crystals with a nice patina form a distinctive "bush" or "shrub" like specimen of solid copper. Ex Kay Roberson Collection # 1057 and acquired in the 1950s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). This is a very rich and rare style copper from this classic Arizona locale. Rich copper ore.
