Item Description

A striking and rare copper specimen from the famous Central Mine. Copper "wires" are VERY RARE from ANY of numerous mines of famous and historic Copper Country. This stunning, sculptural, small cabinet hosts a stout 4.2 cm, snake-like wire lower on one side of the copper and basalt matrix. A dramatic crystallized column/wire dominates the crest and is fantastically accented by the two nearby flattened crystallized wires. A hackly copper cluster, accented with green malachite adds even more pizzazz. The famous Central Mine closed in 1898, but the dumps still produce fine specimens periodically. This piece may have been acid etched out of host rock due to the luster and appearance. RARE and rich wire copper from the Keweenaw. This is possibly a uniqe style of wire copper from the Keweenaw. A most fascinating and rare 360-degree Michigan copper, that displays beautifully well without aid.
