Item Description

Hematite pseudomorphs after pyritohedrons of this size, sharpness and quality are rare from the famous and ancient iron mines of Elba. A dramatic and impressive large 5.8 cm, sharp, compound pseudo dominates this striking intergrown cluster of sharp pseudos. The highly lustrous crystals have rich chocolate-brown color. The large pseudo is nearly pristine with only a bit of bruising on the outer edge. The major secondary crystals all appear to be pristine. The attachments/contacts are a very modest detraction to this outstanding, rich and rare pseudomorph from the fabled locale. Ex Dr. Barratt Phillips Collection. Value??
