Item Description

Blackberry-like clusters of lustrous, black bubbly heterogenite botryoids cover much of all sides of the mounded matrix on this rich specimen from the famous Star of the Congo Mine in Katanga. Heterogenite is an uncommon cobalt oxy-hydroxide, with some of the finest and richest examples coming from this well-known locale. Veins and patches of blue-green chrysocolla with a sprinkling of light green primary malachite are a colorful and fine accent. Bruising is noted, but this remains a rich and highly representative example of this combination material from a recent find. Valued at $300 by the former dealer for high quality.
