Josephinite is a synonym for Awaruite, a rare Ni-Fe alloy and is named after the Oregon county, where it was found. Awaruite is named for the Type Locality near Awarua Bay, New Zealand. These awaruite pebbles occur as alluvial riverworn detritus in several streams that originate and flow across the Josephine Peridotite. 4 grams mass. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7332 and acquired in San Mateo in 1974.
