Item Description

Double your Russian pyromorphite pleasure with two RARE, old specimens from the famous and historic gold fields at Berezovsk. This is the first and oldest gold mining area in the Urals and in Russia. It is also the Type Locality for crocoite. The larger matrix piece is richly covered with clusters of rounded, lustrous, translucent, oil-green prisms. The thumbnail is solid pyromorphite with much larger prisms. Some glassy, oil-green prisms are visible on the front. The impressive oxide-coated crystals on the back reach 1.6 cm. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 2586 and 8116. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). RARE, old and excellent Russian pyromorphite.
