Item Description

A classic, pristine, sharp, 2.0 cm on diagonal, translucent, frosted rose-red rhodochrosite rhomb dominates this striking and aesthetic combination miniature from the famous Sunnyside Mine of Colorado. The rhomb is nicely accented by a smaller rhodo and is very well-placed on the complimentary undulating matrix of sprays of tiny quartz points, quartz veins, contrasting tiny pyrites and sulfide matrix. Very highly desirable combination rhodo from this noted locale and choice material from the Kay Robertson Collection # 2813, with no label. She acquired this cutie in the early-mid 1960s, while the mine was still active. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). This exquisite beauty has multiple fine display views.
