Item Description

A VERY RARE Texas pseudomorph of chalcedony after a large sharp pseudo-hexagonal aragonite crystal! The two small side cars add pizzazz to this exotic rarity. Texas is well-known as a mineral wasteland, excepting the Llano Uplift, Terlingua, exotic species from salt domes and a few celestine localities. Here is another exception. Lancaster, Texas is in Dallas County and such species do not occur here. This amazing rarity is probably from Hartley County in the Texas Panhandle. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only trivial edge wear. Old-time material from the Kay Robertson Collection # 1262 and acquired from Norm Dawson, the former owner of the famous White Queen Mine, in San Mateo in 1959. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A RARE and highly desirable Texas pseudo!
