Item Description

Calcite is RARE from the famous quartz deposits of King County and a quartz pseudomorph after calcite is EXTREMELY RARE. This is a striking and sculptural hollow cast (epimorph) of sparkly drusy quartz after parallel-growth calcite scalenohedrons. The broken base reveals the very interesting basal rhombic shape of the scalenohedrons. Complete all-around and pristine. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 8021 and acquired from the Cisneros' at the MSSC Show in 1976. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A very rare MUST for the pseudomorph, species or locality collector!
