Item Description

Ulexite, an uncommon borate, is one of the most unique species in the mineral kingdom. Called "TV rock" because the parallel-growth fibers have a unique fiber optic quality. One direction, it is transparent; 90 degrees along the other direction, opaque. The beautiful shimmering pearlescent prism faces are a dramatic contrast to the TV-like view of the termination faces. A fascinating and pristine example of this most exotic mineral species. The world's finest pieces easily come from Boron and are often sold in smaller chunks in museum gift shops.
