Item Description

Santa Eulalia is famous for these exotic pseudomorphs of goethite after gypsum. This surreal sculptural large 3-dimensional piece of burnished brown and gray goethite is composed of numerous dramatic hollow epimorphs after gypsum accented with nests of bubbly metallic botryoids. They look like a nest of volcanic "black smokers" found deep in the ocean at a subduction zone or spreading center. Classic and excellent material from the Dr. Barratt Phillips Collection.
