Item Description

Mineral specimens are RARE from this obscure Cantabria Province mine and theSanabria Collection. This striking large 360-degree calcite is of a very uncommon style. It looks like a two-toned multi-headed coral! The striking tan spiky coral heads have a secondary white calcite overgrowth adding much pizzazz. MINDAT lists neither Otanes or Setares, which are small hamlets or place names in the province. 77 of the 79 calcite photos in the MINDAT photo gallery for Cantabria Province are either rhombs or scalenohedrons, with only one cave formation stalactite or helectite and a previously shown Sanabria Collection piece from this locale. A highly unusual and rare Spanish calcite, that is essentially pristine, with few broken spikes. It displays great from all sides, without aid.
