Item Description

Sharp, lustrous, platy ottrelite crystals to 2 mm are richly peppered on both sides of the sculptural laminated schist matrix on this rich and rare specimen from the Type Locality. Ottrelite is a rare member of the Chloritoid Group and is the manganese-rich analogue of chloritoid. Excellent and rich specimens, such as this are seldom on the market. Ex Van L. Wals Collection. from the previous owner, Dr Wouter van Tichelen: Just a short note that this specimen is from the collection of Dr. Lourens Wals (lourenswalsite).
