Item Description

During the 1970s, this famous mine produced some of the world's finest cuprite specimens, along with outstanding copper, malachite and calcite specimens. This is a classic and shapely modified octahedron with bright silver-metallic luster. It has been etched out from under a coating of malachite and the cuprite faces are pitted. The crystal is complete all-around and is pristine with the attachment at the base. The backlit photo highlight the glorious gemminess and intense, cherry-red color saturation. Superb material from the 1973 find. It has a fine provenance, having been in the Dr. Miguel Romero Collection (http://www.irocks.com/e-book-romero). Fairly valued at $2500 for quality and provenance.
