Polished Agate bookends

Colorful and exotic banding highlights this impressive large pair of polished agate bookends from Brazil. The sculptural crystallized and mostly colorless core is surrounded by striking translucent dense bands of reds, oranges and yellows followed by contrasting blue and gray bands with mostly yellow bands on the perimeter. Interestingly, the reds, oranges and yellows have a much richer hue, when the blocks are turned sideways. We usually don't handle these, but this fine pair was recently acquired in a large collection purchase. 6.2 pounds or 2.8 kilos mass. Classic and excellent Brazil agate.
