Item Description

Barite is very uncommon from the famous Tri-State District. Tightly intergrown, sharp, blocky tan bladed crystals, to 2.8 cm, form a sculptural, large mounded, two-sided specimen from the famous Joplin Field. The scattered bruised crystals reveal the glassy, translucent barite beneath the outer coating. Old-time material of this size and quality is RARE and is very seldom on the market. Good timing. See the current Mineralogical Record Special Issue on the Tri-State District. Ex George Feist Collection # 3075.
