Item Description

An old-time, showy and rich silver ore thumbnail from the historic mines at St. Andreasberg. A striking, two-sided, bent bladed column of terminated dyscrasite is richly covered with native silver. There's a hint of galena on the bottom of the piece. Dyscrasite was the most important silver bearing species here. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7100 and acquired from the Lidstrom's at the MSSC Show in 1974. Kay assembled an important suite of classics and rarities from this famed district. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). See the Mineralogical Record St. Andreasberg Special Issue, May-June, 2017, Vol. 48, No. 3. The is piece undoubtedly dates to the 1800s, as the last mine closed in 1910. Excellent combination material from this famed locale. IMPORTANT SPECIMEN, with impactful rope size, although small overall. valued $1500. NOT on the market!
