Item Description

A sculptural cluster of finger-like 2-generation cave calcite stalactites is richly and colorfully included with gemmy and lustrous, pretty sky-blue celestine crystals. MINDAT does not list a Gallegos locality in Chihuahua. The Mojina Mine is well-known for these combinations. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5744 and acquired from Norm Dawson at the 1969 Glendale Show. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A very showy and excellent 360-degree combination miniature with only modest basal periphery wear. The fingers fluoresce neon-green, indicative of a thin coating of hyalite opal.
