Item Description

VERY RARE and superb combination material from the famous Traprock quarries at West Paterson (Woodland Park). Intergrown glassy, translucent, blocky tetragonal apophyllite crystals, to 2.0 x 2.0 x 2.0 cm, are aesthetically set in the front of the 360-degree specimen. Pearlescent, curved, layered heulandite crystals richly cover one end of the piece. An undamaged, soft to the touch knobbly pectolite ball is on the back and striking radiating aggregates of chatoyant snow-white acicular pectolite are scattered on all sides and the base of this piece. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 6238 and acquired from Kittredge Minerals in Detroit in 1970. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). An exceptional and RARE New Jersey combination and a must for the species or locality collector.
