Item Description

Mineral specimens directly attributable to this old extinct iron mine are RARE, as MINDAT has no photos from the locale. Specimens from the entire district (Grangesberg mining district) are very uncommon. Blocky, translucent, hematite-tinted calcite rhombs are richly and attractively intergrown on the mounded matrix of quartz and sulfides. Scattered clusters of sparkly, tiny brassy pyrite crystals and the preferential secondary gray oxide coatings on the the calcites are fine accessories. RARE, rich and excellent calcite combination material from this old Swedish iron mine. The piece displays well from both directions on this exceptional pristine specimen.
