Item Description

One face of this solid nodule of glorious, lustrous, translucent, rich apple-green Chrysoprase has been sawed and polished and is nicely accented with just a bit of matrix. This is a beautiful and striking piece of Chrysoprase from a NEW FIND at this historic old nickel deposit, mined since the Middle Ages and finally abandoned in 1980 (MINDAT). Chrysoprase is the apple-green variety of chalcedony. The color is caused by tiny inclusions of Nickel-bearing layered silicates. High quality material from a new find and GLOWS, when backlit.
