Item Description

A classic, gemmy, pink, 2.8 x 2.6 cm doubly terminated compound fluorite octahedron with a partial gneiss coating is aesthetically set on the front of the sculptural wedge of gneiss matrix on this showy and excellent miniature from this well-known Swiss locale, famous for superb smoky quartz specimens. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 3375 and acquired from Scott Williams in the mid-1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). Purple fluorescence.
