Item Description

Multi-hued rhodochrosite has pseudomorphed part of a large mollsuc shell, that is dramatically filled with smaller pseudoed shell fragments and a myriad of rhodo botryoids and disks. The pseudos are encased in a striking mounded matix of nodular ironstone. Ex W.S. Logan Collection # X92 and illustrated on Page 143 of his 2013 self-published book, Rhodochrosite - Crystals of Drama and Nuance (available by request). This locality is now extinct and rich matrix specimens of this quality are very hard to obtain. Valued at $400-600.
