Item Description

Lustrous, translucent, pink rhodochrosite rhombs, to 4 mm, are richly scattered among a forest of glassy, tapered quartz points, to 1.5 cm, on the mounded quartz-rich small cabinet matrix. Some of the quartz points are broken, but this remains a showy and highly representative 270-degree example of the combination from this well-known Peru district. Raura is better known for excellent stibnite specimens. Most of these rhodos came out in the 1970s, with very few since. Rich and uncommon rhodochrosite from the W.S. Logan Collection # X20-6.
