Item Description

Wow! An impressive sculptural and RARE large schorl specimen from the Erongos. This very aesthetic specimen is dominated by the dramatic 10.8 cm hexagonal crystal. All of the jet-black crystals have very high lustre. The compound crystal cluster is 7.2 cm long and the isolated crystal is 4.6 cm long. All of the terminations are pristine and are probably composed of typical small rod-like crystals of Foitite, a rare member of the Tourmaline Group. Correct identification is only possible by suitable analytical methods, but the guidance from the literature is that the species are mixed in this style, as described above. A superlative and rare large 360-degree schorl crystal cluster from the Shields Flynn Namibia Collection. Valued at $1750-2000 for size, rarity and outstanding quality.
