Item Description

A RARE, rich and showy combination from this historic Cu-Ag-Pb barite and fluorite mine, that started in 1726. Highly luminous, bubbly hematite botryoids cover the hefty blocky martrix of barite with hematite. A RARE accessory is the 8 mm partial, glassy, colorless fluorite cube on one end. The botryoids have a fantastic melted-look, they are so bright. Close examination with a loupe under bright light suggests, that the hematite may have been buffed. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 4772 and acquired from Al McGuinness in the mid-1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Ex Wouter van Tichelen Collection. This remains a VERY RARE and rich combination from the locale.
