Large Azurite & Malachite

Item Description

An impressive large combination plate from recent finds at Milpillas. A striking line of lustrous navy-blue to midnight-blue azurite crystals coarses across the top of the sculptural porphyry matrix plate. The lozenge-shaped crystals reach 2.6 cm and are nicely accented by the patches of starkly contrasting primary malachite needles and iron or manganese oxide coatintgs. The azurites spill over onto the back as a bonus. The azurites on the right side are pristine and the bit of noted bruising to the crystals on the left side is certainly only a modest detraction to this dramatic large combination plate. Value? We estimate $1000-1500 is fair for such a large and highly representative example of the combination species.
