Item Description

Superb world-class cuprite and copper specimens from this polymetallic Russian mine appeared at Western shows in 2007 and caused an immediate sensation. This adorable thumbnail cuprite cluster is dominated by the 1.9 super sharp, doubly terminated octahedron. The opaque crystals have bright metallic lustre and subtlely scalloped faces. Smaller bruised crystals reveal classic cherry-red color under bright light. The large crystal is pristine. One face has a contact, where another crystal once lay, but there is no damage, per se and this face is out-of-sight in the primary display views. That's a bit of hot glue attached to the piece. A really cute thumbnail example of the species and locale.
