Item Description

Gorgeous lightly iridescent golden-yellow limonite preferentially coats the dramatic parallel-growth barite blades and some of the myriad of glassy quartz points on this striking, colorful and showy old-time combination from this historic Cu-Ag-Pb barite and fluorite mine, that started in 1726. Previously in the Falkenhorst Collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 2327 and acquired from Scott Williams in the early 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Quartz is a relatively uncommon mineral from the Clara Mine, compared to other species and this is an exceptional older combination with rich color. Valued at $500.
