Item Description

A fantastic looking and VERY RARE pseudomorph combination from this less well-known North Carolina locale. Limonite has pseudomorphed an aesthetic cluster of very sharp siderite crystals. The fabulous large sharp frontal crystal, at 2.9 cm on the diagonal, has surreal preferential etching along the crystal edges, revealing lighter colored limonite filling the striking architectural boxwork structures! A REAL bonus on the back is the striking cluster of lustrous, gemmy wine-red to golden-yellow twinned rutile crystals (sagenite). Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7169 and acquired from the Lidstrom's in the early 1970s, when specimens from Boiling Springs came out. Her label was lost during the move. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A RARE and acceptional pseudo from the locale with rutile. A MUST for the locality or species collecto. This is one of the niftiest pseudos we have seen in a long time.
