Item Description

An outstanding spherical miniature from one of the most iconic mineral finds of all time - the late 1970s rhodochrosite finds at the famous N'Chwaning I Mine. Glorious gemmy rich cherry-red rhodochrosite scalenohedrons, to 2.3 cm, are very densely clustered on this superb specimen. The rich color, glassiness and crystal density of the slender prisms are remarkable on this striking 360-degree piece. Unusually, the crystals have flattopped terminations with striking, seemingly stepped-growth. Complete all-around and in super shape. The plethora of crystals in the interior are all pristine and the bit of noted periphery wear is certainly acceptable in the context of this exceptional and most desirable rhodochrosite varietal. For the style, these rhodos are unsurpassed in the mineral kingdom. The crystals GLOW, when back lit! Specimens of this high quality are normally reserved for the Gallery. Here's your chance to obtain a classic, exceptional N'Chwaning rhodo at a reasonable price point. Valued at $3000-3500.
