Item Description

Classic, excellent and uncommon celestine from one of the few localities in Texas, that produces fine display quality specimens - Bull Creek in the Austin area. A very fine 2.9 cm scalenohedron is dramatically set upright on the limestone matrix with smaller crystals. The satin lustre crystal has the typical blue termination, that is unique to the locale. The frontal view is pristine, with the contact on the back of the tip being out-of-sight. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5462 and acquired in mid-late 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A fine, choice example of the species and locale and seldom on the market. A must for the Texas or species collector.
