Item Description

Ericaite is a very rare Fe-borate, a member of the Boracite Group and this old potash mine is the Type Locality. Specimens from here are also VERY RARE. Sharp, lustrous, translucent, rose-brown orthorhombic crystals, to 7 mm, are aesthetically isolated on the sugary, blocky sylvite matrix. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 4550 and acquired from Al McGuinness in the mid-1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). RARE Ericaite from the Type Locality.
