Item Description

A classic, colorful and sculptural large old-time sawed and polished slab from the famous mines at Morenci. Numerous "eyes" of banded malachite and banded gossan matrix are encased in or are adjacent to beautiful royal-blue and navy-blued azurite. Not from the Morenci pit, as work started there started in 1937 (MINDAT). A century-old faded A.E. Foote label is glued to the bottom of the piece. Ex William Kelly Collection. Verified old-time Morenci pieces are seldom on the market. The color associations and form of the piece are striking, indeed.
