Item Description

Lustrous, rare doubly terminated tourmaline from a 2018 new find at this obscure Espirito Santo State locale. Tourmaline is not listed in the MINDAT locale. This very sculptural 360-degree miniature specimen is dravite-schorl. The aesthetic, stepped parallel-growth trigonal crystal has densely striated prism faces. The modified pyramidal termination is highly lustrous, while the lower termination has dramatic trigonal striations. The specimen appears to be black schorl in some photos, depending on lighting type, background and incidence. But, other photographic parameters reveal the beautiful mahogany color (dravite) of the piece. Complete all-around and essentially pristine. The two noted contacts, have very little damage, per se. Specimens would have to be analyzed for a definitive composition result, but are probably a combination of dravite and schorl. 33 grams mass.
