Fluorapatite & Lepidolite (Shields Flynn Coll.)

Item Description

Fluorapatite is very uncommon from the Erongo Mts. This very sculptural, uncommon combination is highlighted by clusters of translucent, blue-gray-green, hexagonal crystals at the top of the front, to 1.2 cm. The two vertical lepidolite crystal ribs dramatically partition of the apatites. The back features many more coated apatites on the artistic rare lepidolite crystal matrix (not muscovite). Interestingly, most of the apatites do not fluoresce, as they are coated. Only the apatites on the broken ends fluoresce the classic rich yellow. The sawed base enhances the display quality of this RARE 360-degree combination from the Shields Flynn Collection.
